Bad Beats and Double Play Weekend

Friday, October 15th, 2010

This weekend marks another Double Play Tournament at The Borgata, but this time the casino is guaranteeing a $250,000 prize pool and deepstacking the whole event. The tournament, which starts Sunday, carries a $1,000 + $90 buy-in.

acw-doubleplayThe Borgata’s Double Plays are a special twist on the re-buy where anyone busting out Sunday on Day 1A can buy-in again on Monday, Day 1B. In this case, that will put some players in for more than two grand.

Since it’s a deepstack, players will start with 30K in chips. Levels last 50 minutes and antes kick in at level five. You can also re-buy each day up to level four. Play begins each day at 11am. Go here for the blinds structure.

Meanwhile, the combined bad beat at Harrah’s properties  — good at Harrah’s Resort, Caesars, Bally’s and Showboat — was at $408,093 going into today’s (Oct. 15) play. Once again, it pays 30 percent to the bad-beat loser, 20 percent to the hand winner and splits 50 percent among all players in cash games at all Harrah’s rooms. The minimum hand is currently set at quad fives.

The Taj Mahal’s bad beat remains the highest traditional jackpot in the city at $202,008 going into today.

The Borgata’s full bad beat, with a minimum of quad 10s, is at $120,655. The lower bad beat — which is about 25 percent of the full bad beat total with a minimum of quad deuces to quad nines — is at $30,164.

The Tropicana bad beat, minimum quad eights, was at $164,000 Friday and the casino’s tournament jackpot was over $50K.

Harrah’s Bad Beat Gets Big

Wednesday, October 13th, 2010

acw-quadfivesThe combined bad beat jackpot at Harrah’s Entertainment casinos should crack $400,000 today and was set at $397,809 going into Wednesday’s play. That’s easily the largest jackpot the city has seen since Harrah’s first announced the combined bad beat in August.

That bad bet was set at $524,000, but hit just a couple of days later.

And under Harrah’s policy of dropping the minimum hand for a bad beat each Wednesday, the minimum is now at quad fives.

The jackpot is in play at all four Harrah’s properties — Showboat, Harrah’s, Caesars and Bally’s. It pays 30 percent to the bad-beat loser, 20 percent to the hand winner and splits 50 percent among all players in cash games at all rooms. Yes, all players in the four rooms regardless of where it hits.
