Borgata Summer Open Schedule
The Borgata has released the schedule for the main tournaments in its Summer Open, June 8-24, and they’ve sprinkled in some exciting twists to keep things interesting.
The open competes directly with the World Series of Poker in Vegas and is probably the most regional in its player draw of the casino’s four opens. So to spice things up, The Borgata is introducing a new twist on bounty tournaments.
Three of the main events will include bounties. The twist is that everybody who plays will be a bounty.
For example, the first bounty tournament is Event 2, June 9. The tournament is a basic $200 + 30 No Limit Hold’em event. But it’s also a “Green Chip” bounty event.
In other words, every player buys-in for an extra $25, a green casino chip, and places it in front of their stacks. When they go all in, so does the $25 chip.
If an opposing player wins, knocking the other player out, that $25 is theirs.
“If you win in an all-in situation, that chip goes into your pocket,” says Ray Stefanelli, director of poker marketing for the Borgata. “So even if you don’t win in the tournament, if you knock a few guys out you get some money back. We think that’s an easier way to play a bounty game.”
In normal bounty games, one player (or perhaps a few) is designated as the bounty and each other player contributes to the bounty pool. Knock out the bounty and you win the pool.
That’s not always easy to manage in large tournaments so we like the Borgata’s twist.
Sounds like fun.
Two other bounty games are Event 9 on June 14, a $200 + $30 + $20 (yellow chip) buy-in and Event 17, a $400 + $50 + $100 (black chip) buy-in.
The championship event is a $2,500 + $200 buy-in No Limit Tournament June 19-22. The tournament carries a $500,000 prize pool guarantee.
There are also four other guaranteed prize pool events and four Deepstack events.
Event 7, starting June 12, is a three-day, Deepstack Double Play event with a $350 + $50 buy-in.

I do enjoy the manner in which you have presented this particular difficulty plus it does give me personally a lot of fodder for consideration. However, because of what I have observed, I just wish as other remarks pile on that individuals continue to be on issue and not embark on a soap box regarding the news du jour. All the same, thank you for this outstanding piece and while I can not agree with it in totality, I respect the viewpoint.
