Ninth Annual Fabulous ‘50s Weekend Coming Oct. 12-13 in the Wildwoods

THE WILDWOODS, N.J. — The Greater Wildwood Chamber of Commerce will present the ninth annual Fabulous ‘50s & Beyond Weekend Celebration Friday and Saturday, Oct. 12-13 in the Wildwoods — a two-day celebration paying tribute to the 1950s and highlighting the Wildwoods’ role in the history of Rock ‘n’ Roll music.

The fun begins Friday night inside the Wildwoods Convention Center with a Dance Party hosted by the Jerry “The Geator with the Heater” Blavat, who is guaranteed to get everyone moving and grooving to classic oldies. The Dance Party takes place from 7-11 p.m. and admission is $13 per person.

Saturday will feature an afternoon (11am-5pm) of outdoor fun and music during the free Fabulous ‘50s Street Fair at Fox Park, located across from the Convention Center on Ocean Avenue. The Street Fair will include free live entertainment throughout the day as well as a classic car show, a Doo-Wop ‘50s Bus Tour and a variety of vendors offering ‘50s memorabilia, merchandise, delicious food options and much more. The Doo-Wop Experience Museum will also be open, allowing guests to view authentic ‘50s memorabilia, artifacts and several room displays.

The weekend’s featured event starts 7pm Saturday — the Fabulous ‘50s & Beyond Concert — which will take place in the Oceanfront Arena at the Convention Center starring Kenny Vance & the Planotones, the 5th Dimension featuring Florence LaRue, the Orlons, and Paul Revere & the Raiders. Admission is $49.50 per person.

Third Annual Wildwood Tattoo Convention and Show Returns Sept. 7-9

THE WILDWOODS, N.J. — The third annual Wildwood Tattoo Convention and Show takes place Friday through Sunday, Sept. 7-9, inside the Wildwoods Convention Center.

imageThe Tattoo Convention and Show will bring the body-art community to the Wildwoods for a weekend full of events, and will host major national tattoo artists as well as activities like tattoo contests, a traveling tattoo museum, seminars, art exhibits and contestants from Ink Master Season 2, Spike TV’s hit tattoo competition reality show.

Hours for the Tattoo Convention and Show are Friday and Saturday from noon-11pm, and Sunday from noon-6 pm. Daily passes are $20 and weekend passes are available for $40 for all three days. Tickets will be available at the door.

The Third Annual Wildwood Tattoo Convention and Show is being held in conjunction with the 17th annual Roar to the Shore Motorcycle Rally. Thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts are expected to migrate to the Wildwoods during the rally for a weekend of motorcycling vendors and demos, plus free live musical entertainment all weekend.

THE WILDWOODS, N.J. — Those wizards of the hardwood, the Harlem Globetrotters, are returning to the Wildwoods and the southern New Jersey shore area Wednesday through Saturday, Aug. 8-11, at the Wildwoods Convention Center for a four-game series and two exciting two-hour skills clinics.

The ‘Trotters’ skills clinics teach fans the importance of healthy eating habits and staying fit and will provide behind-the-scenes fun and a sneak peak at their practice. The skills clinics are ideal for children ages 6-14 and are scheduled for Aug. 8 and 9 from 10am-noon each day.

The first female Globetrotter since 1993 (and a graduate of Temple University in nearby Philly) “TNT” Maddox is set to perform in Wildwood. Other team members to hit the court are “Stretch” Middleton, the third tallest Globetrotter in history (at 7 feet 4 inches’ tall), “Too Tall” Hall, the shortest Globetrotter in history at 5 feet 2 inches, and “Big Easy” Lofton, the Globetrotters’ Showman and a two-time competitor (with teammate “Flight Time” Lang) on the reality TV show The Amazing Race. Rounding out the team are “Jet “Williams, “Hi-Lite” Bruton, “Hammer” Harrison and “Flip” Atkins.

The basketball action begins with the Harlem Globetrotters’ first East Coast game this year on Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 7pm. Other games are scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 9-11, starting 7pm each night.

Boardwalk Kennel Club All Breed Dog Show Returns to The Wildwoods

Untitled1Attention all dog lovers! Four-legged friends of all shapes and sizes will return to the Wildwoods Convention Center for the annual All Breed Dog Show hosted by the Boardwalk Kennel Club for five days — Wednesday through Sunday, Feb. 2-6.

Competitions will begin at 8am daily. Multiple judges will determine the winner of each category, and various prizes will be awarded.

Additionally, vendors will offer unique merchandise for those looking for something special to pamper their pooch — from collars and leashes to books and training tools, along with everything in between. Guided tours and new exhibitor briefings will be available

‘Sweet Soul’ Concert Canceled Due to Weather

Event organizer Carver Entertainment Group, citing the pending adverse weather conditions brought on by Hurricane Earl, has canceled the Sweet Soul and Rock & Roll Concert Series — to have taken place this Saturday, Sept. 4, at the Wildwoods Convention Centerr — and plans to reschedule at a later date. No date has been announced as of this time.

Three legendary groups from the Motown era were scheduled to perform at in the inaugural event — The Spinners, Little Anthony and the Imperials (pictured), and The Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards. Celebrity impersonator Linda Axelrod was to host the show, performing at Joan Rivers.

‘Roar to the Shore’ Returns to Wildwood!

If you need a quick “roar” fix between the recently completed “Thunder Over the Boardwalk” air show and the upcoming revival of Atlantic City’s “Feel the Power” offshore powerboat races on Sept. 19, then head down to Wildwood for the annual “Roar to the Shore” motorcycle rally taking place Thursday through Sunday, Sept. 9-12.

Thousands of bikers will roll into the Wildwoods for this 15th annual event featuring specialized vendors and demonstrations, live entertainment and more. The vast vendor areas will feature hundreds of top-of-the-line merchants. It will be open each of the four days from 9am, and include everything from pin-striping, accessories, leather goods, helmets, eye protection, fine cigars and (drum roll please) … a mobile Jack Daniels museum. Merchants will be spread across five separate vending areas sited at the Wildwoods Convention Center (WCC)’s parking lot, and all along Oak and Atlantic avenues in downtown Wildwood.
