KC & Sunshine Band Shakes Booty into Boogie Nights Hall of Fame May 19

Thursday, May 17th, 2012

1968_42262894557_42261789557_1086446_5868_nATLANTIC CITY — Immediately after their headline performance at the Tropicana Showroom this Saturday night, May 19, KC & the Sunshine Band will become the first band ever to be inducted into the Boogie Nights Hall of Fame in Atlantic City.

The famed funk ‘n’ disco group that struck gold with hits like “That’s the Way (I Like It)”, “Shake Your Booty,” “Keep It Comin’ Love,” “Get Down Tonight” and others in the ’70s and early ’80s will perform at the Trop’s new 8,000-square foot shrine to everything ’70s and ’80s before being bestowed the Hall of Fame honor. The band should arrive around 11pm, after their Showroom show.

The Boogie Nights Hall of Fame honors musicians, icons, and even items (i.e. the Rubix Cube) that have left their mark on pop culture from that special stretch of the 20th Century. Past inductees include Jimmie “JJ” Walker Tiffany and Leif Garrett at other Boogie Nights locations. As a part of the commemoration, KC & the Sunshine Band will receive a plaque and Boogie Nights will also display one as well.

“There isn’t a person out there who doesn’t like KC & the Sunshine Band — they are true legends and we can’t wait to induct them into the Boogie Nights Hall of Fame,” says Boogie Nights creator and owner Dave Pena.

“Phil Fan Food Drive” this Friday at Trop

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

Award-winning singer/songwriter Phil Vassar is asking his fans to help support the Community Food Bank of New Jersey by bringing non-perishable items to his concert at the Tropicana Showroom this Friday, Aug. 28.
Volunteers from the Community Food Bank of N.J. Southern Branch will be on site beginning at 7:30pm to collect non-perishable items and monetary donations. Doors for the show open at 8:15pm and the concert starts 9pm.
With such a strong fan following in southern New Jersey, Vassar is asking his fans to help support a cause that he has been dedicated to for a number of years — feeding the hungry. While the recession is taking a toll on families across the country, it’s hitting especially hard right here, and that’s why the Food Bank of N.J. Southern Branch needs help now more than ever. Even the smallest donation can go a long way.
