Seashore Gardens, MAPS Foundation Hosts 3rd Enriching Lives 5K Run/Walk

ATLANTIC CITY- The Seashore Gardens Living Center and MAPS Foundation Inc. will be hosting its third annual Enriching Lives 5K Run/Walk on the Atlantic City Boardwalk Sunday, April 14.

The 5K Walk/Run begins at 9am and registrations starts  7:15am on the Boardwalk just outside of Resorts Casino Hotel. All entrants will receive a commemorative event T-shirt. Awards will be given for the top-three overall male and female, and the top male and female finishing in the following age groups:   15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79 and 80+. There will also be a category for wheelchair participants  and awards including the “Tortoise Award,” the Top Fundraising Team, and the Largest Team.

The honorary race director and runner will be Barbara Altman, a WOND 1400 AM radio personality, along with Michael Weinraub, the executive vice president of Seashore Gardens Living Center.

Inaugural Jersey Gumbo Cookoff & Musicfest Coming Saturday, June 15!

SOMERS POINT, N.J. — The Louisianan Bayou will be flowing through southern New Jersey on Saturday, June 15, when Somers Point Fire Company #1 is transformed into a swampy, steaming collection of gumbo kettles and down-home sounds. Dis gonna be one jumbo gumbo and music fest, ya hear?

gumboGuests can taste and experience a world-class music festival starring popular world music/Louisiana Zydeco headliner and Grammy award-winning Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience, original Springsteen E Street Band drummer Vini “Mad Dog” Lopez and his Key West Caribbean party band License to Chill, and Blues Music Award winner Jumpin’ Johnny Sansone and his Cajun Rock/New Orleans R&B band.

More than 20 local chefs, restaurants and celebrity cooks will be serving up all kinds of gumbo — chicken and sausage gumbo, seafood gumbo, Jersey crab gumbo, okra gumbo, shrimp gumbo, vegetarian gumbo,  pork and beef gumbo too!  And you can taste it all for the price of admission.


Seashore Gardens Black and White Ball at Resorts

The Seashore Gardens Foundation will host its inaugural Black and White Ball this holiday season on Saturday, Dec. 15, 7pm, at Resorts Casino Hotel.

The event will include dinner, dancing, and music by the Eddie Bruce Orchestra.

In honor of the late Dennis C. Gomes, Lloyd D. Levenson will lead a special tribute to the casino industry mogul and beloved member of the Atlantic City community.

Co-hosting the event alongside Janice and Martin Klein are Gomes’ wife Barbara and son Aaron.

Organizers of the glamorous night aim to raise awareness for the Seashore Gardens Foundation, with funds benefiting the art and technology programs for residents of Seashore Gardens Living Center.

Tickets for the black-tie affair are $250, with sponsor tables available for $3,500 and $5,000.

Resorts is offering guests special rates to stay the night with rooms starting at $99. Complimentary valet parking and a commemorative gift bag from Serago Roberts will also be offered, with one lucky bag containing a piece of jewelry.
