‘Fighting for Fluffy’ Cancer Benefits
Wednesday, May 9th, 2012
A “fun fest” night on the town is scheduled for Monday, May 21, and a softball cancer benefit is scheduled for Sunday, June 3, to benefit Fluffy, a local woman diagnosed with stage three cervical cancer.
The “Fighting for Fluffy” fun fest will be held at Scales Grill & Deck Bar in the Gardner’s Basin section of Atlantic City starting 9pm on May 21. A $25 donation at the door includes food, live entertainment, a cash bar and endless fun. There will also be a silent auction and raffles. One hundred percent goes to treatment for Fluffy.
The softball will take place 9am-5pm at the City of Absecon’s Pitney Road community fields on June 3 (rain date June 17). To start your own team, you must have between 9 and 15 players and at least two must be female. A non-refundable $500 donation per team is due two weeks prior to the event. Each team member receives one food and drink ticket (2 slices of pizza/1 soda) and a Fight for Fluffy T-shirt with team name listed. Each team is responsible for signing waivers, cleaning up field after use and supplying gloves, bats, & balls.
Most of us know someone who has been affected by some sort of cancer and understand the financial stress that it causes. It is estimated that almost 13 thousand women in the United States alone have been diagnosed with cervical cancer. Stage three cervical cancer requires harsh treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation. As a result, not only will Fluffy miss time from work but she will be faced with substantial medical expenses as well
