NORTHFIELD, N.J. — Chef Joe Muldoon — a young rising-star chef from South Jersey (originally from Franklinville, Gloucester County) and the former executive chef at Bally’s premiere gourmet fine-dining restaurant The Reserve, will be opening “Roberta’s by Joe Muldoon” on Monday, June 3, at the former location of Gianna’s at The Plaza in Northfield. Muldoon’s latest endeavor will be reminiscent of a French Bistro, featuring patio seating along with more conventional dining.
Muldoon’s culinary expertise has been described as a blend of Asian and European techniques known as “Pacific Rim Fusion.” Prior to his tenure Muldoon was a sous chef at the popular Philadelphia establishment Di Bruno Bros. Initially Roberta’s will be open for lunch Monday through Saturday from 10:30am to 2:30pm, and in mid-June Muldoon — Korean by birth and enlightened to the art of cooking by his adoptive mother — will be expanding hours to include dinner.
Included on Muldoon’s menu are many vegetarian and health-food items such as his now-famous vegetarian chili in addition and other signature dishes. All meats and salads are made on premise, including fresh-roasted turkey, top round for his roast beef, fresh-cut fries and chips, Kobe beef burgers and more. Small plate entrees will also be served for lunch.
Coffees and teas at Roberta’s are all specialty blends, and only the finest imported cheeses will be used for his sandwiches and dishes. Eat in, take out, delivery and catering is available on and off premises.
