ATLANTIC CITY- The Seashore Gardens Living Center and MAPS Foundation Inc. will be hosting its third annual Enriching Lives 5K Run/Walk on the Atlantic City Boardwalk Sunday, April 14.

The 5K Walk/Run begins at 9am and registrations starts  7:15am on the Boardwalk just outside of Resorts Casino Hotel. All entrants will receive a commemorative event T-shirt. Awards will be given for the top-three overall male and female, and the top male and female finishing in the following age groups:   15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79 and 80+. There will also be a category for wheelchair participants  and awards including the “Tortoise Award,” the Top Fundraising Team, and the Largest Team.

The honorary race director and runner will be Barbara Altman, a WOND 1400 AM radio personality, along with Michael Weinraub, the executive vice president of Seashore Gardens Living Center.

EGG HARBOR TWP., NEW JERSEY — In yet another case of companies joining forces to help friends and neighbors in times of need, Resorts Casino Hotel partnered with the South Philly-based A. Esposito Meats on Thursday, Nov. 15, to donate 100 turkeys in the 10- to 12-pound range to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, Southern Branch, in Egg Harbor Township.

ATLANTIC CITY — Resorts Casino Hotel intends to reinforce its commitment to assisting our furry friends seeking a good home — as well as helping to keep our community clean — by donating more than 200 Shark Vacuum pooper-scoopers to the Humane Society of Atlantic County on Thursday, Aug. 23.

Resorts Casino executives, including Executive Vice President Aaron Gomes will make the presentation at 2:30pm at the Humane Society, located at 1401 Absecon Blvd. (White Horse Pike) in Atlantic City.

The Humane Society of Atlantic County, through its animal shelter and veterinary hospital, offers animals the opportunity for reasonably priced healthcare and a second chance to find permanent homes. It also provides a second chance for animals from other shelters with high kill rates, often finding new homes for animals destined to be euthanized.

To celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Pro Bar and the Grand Opening of the new Piano Bar, pianist and entertainer Matthew Kenworthy hosts two nights of stage quality music and arrangements. Starring Josh Bessinger, Alicia Dennis, Matt Mullineaux, Karen Murdock, and Melissa Tepperman, both nights will be packed with favorites from Broadway and more. Best of all the great music comes without a cover charge.

Culminating on Saturday night at midnight will be a full scale, two hour-long tribute to the greats of Broadway, pop, and rock. Arrangements by Kenworthy on the piano, along with the occasional sing-along and comedic interlude, will round out the evening.

Under new owner Dennis Gomes, Resorts Casino Hotel may have plans to theme its entire operation in a 1920s motif — capitalizing on the Prohibition-era A.C. publicized by HBO’s Boardwalk Empire and it’s own period-appropriate art-deco architecture — but it’s latest promotion definitely screams 21st Century.

Some more information has come out about Dennis Gomes plans to purchase Resorts Casino, including how much the city’s oldest casino costs in today’s market.

Gomes and his partner, Morris Bailey, a New York real-estate developer, are buying the property for a bargain basement $35 million.

Consider that just three years ago Resorts refinanced for $360 million in loans.

Bailey’s partnership with Gomes was also disclosed for the first time Wednesday.

Bailey, who grew up in Atlantic City told The Wall Street Journal:

“I think there’s a point in time when it’s time to go in, and now is the time,” Mr. Bailey said  “Atlantic City will be able to re-create itself now. Will it ever get back to its peak in gaming? Probably not. But based on the value structure, the economics are better now than they ever were.”

Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City recently announced that it will debut Retro Blackjack in February. These table games will offer minimum “retro” wagers starting at $2 per hand, plus a 25-cent “fee” per hand.
“Many players are looking to expand their casino experience by playing blackjack, but are intimidated to do so,” says Kevin Brown, Resorts executive director of table games, in a release to the media. “Retro Blackjack gives them an opportunity to become familiar with the game while playing with others who have a similar skill level.
“With the incredible successes we have had with our retro dance club the past two years, and with the coin-operated slots last year, it was natural for us to take the retro theme to table games,” adds Brown. “These games will certainly add additional buzz to an already exciting casino floor.”
Retro Blackjack will debut for a limited time on two table games at Resorts. Wagers will begin at $2, and wagers can be made in one-dollar increments up to $5. Wagers after $5 will be made in $5 increments. Players placing a wager between $2 and $5 will be required to place a 25-cent fee when placing their bet. The 25-cent fee will be taken by the dealer prior to any cards being dealt. All rules and regulations for standard blackjack will be the same for Retro Blackjack.
