Sure signs that summer is here, even though it’s still May.

The Ocean City Boardwalk is coming alive.

This weekend, the annual Businesspersons’ Plunge takes place in Ocean City (pictured here is last year’s event).

Wildwood has a jam-packed weekend and summer season planned.

The Atlantic City beach bars are opening, such as Sammy’s at Bally’s; (see photo below and click here to see video from last year’s grand opening); the Trump Plaza Beach Bar; Hilton’s Beach Bar — and don’t forget The Deck at the new Golden Nugget Atlantic City.

The big-time summer concerts are being announced (The Flaming Lips at House of Blues, June 25; as well as the following at the Borgata alone:

Borgata Event Center:
Sheryl Crow – July 8, 8pm ( Tickets on sale: 5/28 @ 10am)
Elvis Costello and The Imposters – July 22, 8pm (5/28 @ 10am)
Daniel Tosh – July 23, 10pm (5/27 @ 10am)
Steely Dan – July 30, 8pm (5/28 @ 10am)
Lynyrd Skynyrd with special guest Kenny Wayne Shepherd – August 28, 8pm (5/28 @ 10am)

Interpol with Schools of Seven Bells – July 15, 9pm
Babyface – August 12, 9pm
Styx – August 19 & 20, 9pm

All this and much, much more to look forward to this summer season (which kicks off this holiday weekend in the Jersey shore region).

Expect big things that have yet to be announced from Resorts, the Golden Nugget, and Caesars Entertainment’s four properties — for starters. Not to mention new restaurants at Harrah’s.

Ocean City’s Elvis, Ted Prior, Remembered. Tribute June 5.

The late Ted Prior

The late Ted Prior

Mark Soifer only met the late Ted Prior 15 years ago, but over that time the two became very close and the former, Ocean City’s public relations guru, invited the latter to perform at just about every crazy annual event in Ocean City — “We started featuring him at our novelty events like Miss Crustacean, Martin Mollusk Day, the Quiet Festival, First Night, etc., and he became a big hit and synonymous with Ocean City,” Soifer tells Atlantic City Weekly.

Soifer, a day after Ted Prior passed away after losing a battle with cancer, wrote the following tribute to his friend.

Elvis performer Ted Prior, a talented musician and good friend of Ocean City, passed away on Saturday. Ted, 68, had been battling pancreatic and brain cancer for months. He died at home in Absecon under hospice care and round the clock attention from his wife Carol and members of his family.
