Monday, April 19th, 2010
According to a press release, top-ranked major-league eaters will assemble at Trump Plaza’s Beach Bar in Atlantic City on Saturday, May 29, to vie for the title of New Jersey Hot Dog Eating Champion. The N.J. champion will get the chance to compete at the 95th annual Nathan’s Famous July Fourth International Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island, N.Y., where three-time defending national champion Joey Chestnut of San Jose, Cal., consumed 68 Nathan’s Famous hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes to set a new world record in 2009.
“Nathan’s Famous is excited that Trump Plaza is one of the official stops on our nationwide campaign to find the greatest, most patriotic hot dog lovers in America,” said Wayne Norbitz, President and CEO of Nathan’s Famous, in the release. “We look forward to welcoming New Jersey’s representative to the table in Coney Island, and we expect our 2010 championship to be bigger and more memorable than ever before.”
The event will kick off the summer of 2010, and is just one of many highlights Trump Plaza is planning for the Memorial Day Weekend and the summer season. Qualifiers are open to those 18 years of age and older. Applications are only taken online by going here. The event is free and open to the public.
