Millville’s baseball phenom Mike Trout was going to be in the big leagues eventually. After all, he is rated the best prospect in all of minor league baseball.
However, Trout, who is tearing it up in the Double A Texas League for Arkansas, batting .324 with 32 extra-base hits, a .415 on-base percentage and a Texas League-leading 28 stolen bases, got the word yesterday that the Angels want him right now because of an injury to centerfielder Peter Bourjos. It might be a temporary stay for the 19-year-old, but if he delivers with a few clutch hits, he might be able to extend his stay.
Just a little more than two years ago, Trout was a senior at Millville High School. Amazing! Check out Nate Mulberg’s story and interview.
