ATLANTIC CITY — The Metropolitan Business & Citizens Association (MBCA) honored Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson during its 23rd annual Installation/Awards Gala on Thursday evening, Oct. 17, at Trump Taj Mahal. The Gala is the MBCA’s major business/social event of the year.

John Schultz, president and CEO of the MBCA, and master of ceremonies Lloyd Levenson presented the 2013 MBCA Community Spirit Award to Levinson for his charitable and civic commitments in the region. Levinson, the Atlantic County administrator for the past 13 years, was recently named the New Jersey County Executive of the Year by the New Jersey Conference of Mayors.

The MBCA is made up of about 600 businesses, 80 nonprofit organizations, and 50 residents. Proceeds from the Gala benefit MBCA programs and services, as well as supporting charitable and civic endeavors. To date, MBCA has donated more than $280,000 to numerous charities throughout the Atlantic City Region.

MBCA Scholarship Foundation Awards Luncheon is Wednesday, May 15

ATLANTIC CITY — The Metropolitan Business & Citizens Association (MBCA) will host its 12th Annual Spring Scholarship Foundation Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, May 15,  at 11:30am in the Swan Ballroom (north tower) of the Tropicana.

The MBCA Education Foundation will present scholarships for students planning to continue their studies at an accredited higher education institution. This year’s keynote speaker and Outstanding Educator Award recipient is New Jersey Secretary of State and Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno.

The MBCA will present several scholarships to area residents in their pursuit of education. This year the MBCA is pleased to announce the new  “Seashore Gardens Health” scholarship to a student going into the health field.

Additionally, the South Jersey Women’s Leadership Initiative will present a scholarship to a deserving Atlantic County woman; the Pierre and Sondra Hollingsworth Scholarships” to deserving Atlantic City students; the Atlantic City Weekly Scholarship to those in the culinary and hospitality programs, and others.

The MBCA will also recognize an area educator for outstanding contributions to education. The Epicurean Society’s Outstanding Teacher Recognition Award, in the amount of  $1,500, will be presented to an individual who makes a difference in the development of his/her students, with a unique teaching program, or demonstrating resourcefulness and utilizing innovative teaching techniques.

MBCA’s ‘March Madness Mixer’ Donates $2,100 to FACES and Autism Research

MBCA’S Winter Charity Mixer is March 11

March-Madness-Mailer-Back-wATLANTIC CITY — The Metropolitan Business & Citizens Association (MBCA) will hold its annual Winter Charity Mixer at 5:30pm Monday, March 11, at Cuba Libra in The Quarter at Tropicana.

Slip out of the cold and into a dry mojito, and help raise funds for the MBCA’s selected charity this year:  FACES 4 Autism. FACES is dedicated to autism awareness, education and support for families dealing with those stricken with autism (visit faces4autism.org).
