After a successful first year, the Summer Youth Jazz Camp presented by the Chicken Bone Beach Historical Foundation, Inc. is back.
The advocates of jazz music, in collaboration with the Richard Stockton College’s Carnegie Library Center in Atlantic City, will present a three-week jazz camp, complete with a free, open-to-the-public performance at Kennedy Plaza on the A.C. Boardwalk Thursday, Aug. 2, starting 7pm.
Running July 16-Aug. 2, the Summer Youth Jazz Camp will provide the kids with musical workshops and connect them to professional and master musicians who will teach them the legacy, skills and traditions of jazz while serving as positive role models.
Classes meet Monday through Thursday from 9am to noon at the Carnegie Center, located at 35 South Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Atlantic City. The camp is open to Atlantic County area middle and high school students. Scholarships are also available for Atlantic City students.
Interested? Registration is from July 9-12 from 9am to noon. Chicken Bone Beach strives to carry on the legacy of culture and family values in the Atlantic City Community. With the Summer Youth Jazz Camp, your kids can easily keep the tradition alive. — Vanessa Samson
