ATLANTIC CITY — American rock trio Tonic is coming to the Party Pit at the House of Blues at Showboat on Saturday, June 23. The band, which is currently working on their next studio album, will play a free, open-to-the-public show at Showboat’s rock-and-roll gaming area.

Grammy nominated Tonic is known for merging the raw honesty of rock to unabashed melody. The band was founded in Los Angeles in 1993 by childhood friends — singer and guitarist Emerson Hart and guitarist Jeff Russo. Not much later, they added bassist Dan Lavery.

“When we play music together it feels like going home,” Hart has stated. “Getting together, playing some rock-n-roll: it’s the best feeling in the world.”

Tonic stormed the charts in 1996 with debut album Lemon Parade and its  mega-hit “If You Could Only See.” The band released two additional  studio albums, Sugar (1999) and Head On Straight (2002), as well as a  live EP, Live and Enhanced (1999). They’ve been featured on a number of soundtracks, including the lead single from hit comedy American Pie, “You Wanted More.”

Fans planning on viewing the concert up close are encouraged to arrive early, as reservations are not accepted. — Vanessa Samson
