Adrien Broner vs. Antonio DeMarco Nov. 17 at Boardwalk Hall

Wednesday, October 10th, 2012

bronerAtlantic City has some big boxing news!

WBC Lightweight World Champion Antonio DeMarco will defend his title against one of boxing’s “most electrifying young star,” Adrien “The Problem” Broner in the resort next month.

The fight, which will also feature a co-main event pitting two heavyweight world champ hopefuls —  Seth “Mayhem” Mitchell vs. Johnathon Banks — will be televised live on HBO from Atlantic City on Saturday, Nov. 17.

The fight takes place at Boardwalk Hall.

“This is the perfect doubleheader the week before the Thanksgiving holiday because I guarantee that when it’s over, you’ll be thanking these four boxers for two great fights,” says Oscar De La Hoya, president of Golden Boy Promotions.

“Broner vs. DeMarco is a great mix of styles and we’ll see how Adrien handles the move up to lightweight against a hard and accurate puncher like DeMarco. The heavyweight fight between Mitchell and Banks should produce an American heavyweight ready to fight for a world title, and I can’t wait to see who prevails.”

Boardwalk Empire’s third season kicks off Sunday, Sept. 16, on HBO and as a new trailer illustrates — Atlantic City will be bloody in 1923.  New actor to the award-winning show, set in Prohibtion era Atlantic City,  Bobby Cannavale, plays a Sicilian gangster who lives in New York and seems to have an enormous chip on his shoulder for Nucky Thompson.

With the third season of Boardwalk Empire on the way, the award-winning cast of the HBO series, set in Prohibition era Atlantic City, continues to change.

It’s been reported that Arron Shiver and Meg Steedle have been added to the cast of the show as recurring characters.

Shiver is set to play Dean O’Banion, a character based on a real-life florist mobster from Chicago. Oh, and he also happened to be Al Capone’s nemesis. Shiver’s credits include Fright Night and The Book of Eli.

Steedle has been reportedly cast to play Billy Kent, a charming Broadway actress who outshines the star. This will be Steedle’s second television role following ABC’s Body of Proof.

Fans of the show are eagerly anticipating the twists and turns that will undoubtedly come with the already unpredictable upcoming new season set to begin this fall. — Daniel Aupperle
