Fifth Annual Guns vs. Hoses Showdown in Gardner’s Basin to Benefit Local Charities
Thursday, May 24th, 2012
ATLANTIC CITY — Let’s welcome the Guns vs. Hoses event to Atlantic City once again. The Atlantic City Fire Department (ACFD), Atlantic City Police Athletic League (AC PAL) and various sponsors combine to raise money for local charities that include Gilda’s Club, Shirley Mae Breast Cancer Assistance and the AC PAL youth programs. Boxers of all levels will fight it out in the ring for cancer awareness and those in need.
This year’s showcase is dubbed “Fighting to Fight Cancer,” and 60 percent of proceeds will be divided among the Gilda’s Club and Shirley Mae Breast Cancer Assistance program. Sponsors play a vital role in the success of the Guns vs. Hoses events, and over the past four years have contributed about $40,000 to it’s cause.
There are several ways to make a difference in the fight against cancer during this event, which include three levels of sponsorship. Champion sponsors are those who donate $100 to charities, Sliver Glove Sponsors donate $200, and Golden Glove Sponsors donate $400 to the Guns vs. Hoses charities. Awards and recognition are given to sponsors. Full-page ads will be given to Golden Glove sponsors and half-page ads will be given to Silver Glove sponsors in the Guns vs. Hoses ad book.
This year’s event will be held at noon on Sunday, June 10, at the Historic Gardner’s Basin. Tickets are $20 per person. Interested boxers and sponsors can call (609) 927-5605 for more info. Donations are tax deductible and can also be made to AC Memorial Boxing, AC Fireman’s Credit Union, 910 New Rd. Northfield, N.J. PO BOX 413. — Shana Vanegas
