Egg-citing Easter Weekend in Atlantic City

The City of Atlantic City will hold a weekend of community events in celebration of the Easter holiday. The festivities start Saturday, April 23, at the Uptown Park (323 Madison Ave.) with an Easter egg hunt at noon (please bring your own bag for the egg hunt). Other Saturday activities scheduled include a fire engine ride, relay race, basketball, egg on a spoon race, jump rope contest, baseball and pedal cart racing. Prizes will be distributed at the conclusion of each event. Saturday’s events are for children ages 1-12.
On Easter Sunday, April 24, the City of Atlantic City, in partnership with the Steel Pier, will hold the resort’s annual Best Dressed Contest on the pier (Virginia Avenue and Boardwalk) at 1:30pm. Best-dressed winners (boys and girls up to age 15) will receive Easter baskets with a cash prize, as well as a plaque issued by the city. The winner for “Best Dressed Family” will receive a large Easter basket, cash prize and a plaque. Contestants can register on the pier from noon-1pm. The Easter Bunny and his friends will be on hand starting at 1pm. Hot chocolate and donuts will be served from 1-3pm while supplies last.
Music will be provided by Jim Craine and the Atlantic City All Stars (right). Bill McCullough of McCullough Models will serve as the master of ceremonies. The judges for the best-dressed contests will be Michelle Dawn Mooney of NBC-TV 40, Barbara Altman of WOND 1400 AM radio, Pattie Harris of Pattie Harris Atlantic City Dance Theater, and Christine Steiner of Atlantic City Weekly.
