Iron Chef Marc Forgione Event For Community FoodBank
Wednesday, August 22nd, 2012
Award-winning Iron Chef Marc Forgione, owner of American Cut at Revel and a member of the Feeding America Entertainment Council, presents an event in front of Revel on Thursday, Aug. 23, 10am-noon, to give back to those facing hunger.
To raise awareness about the serious issue of hunger both nationally and locally in Atlantic City, Feeding America Entertainment Council member Marc Forgione will be packing bags of food for the Community FoodBank of New Jersey to distribute. Feeding America is the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity, with more than 200 member food banks — including the Community FoodBank of New Jersey—serving all 50 states. Nearly 49 million Americans—1 in 6 people—including more than 16 million children, live at risk of hunger.
In Atlantic County alone, 15.6% of the population faces hunger, which equates to more than 42,000 people. The Community FoodBank of New Jersey distributed 39 million pounds of food and groceries to the poor and low-income in 2011 statewide, an increase of more than 60 percent in three years. From Egg Harbor Township in Atlantic County, the Community FoodBank of New Jersey is now serving 257 local partner agencies from a new 29,000 square foot warehouse.
Food and products for the packing event were donated by Marc Forgione, Chef’s Warehouse, Sysco, Baldor, Cintas, and I Halper. For more information on how you can fight hunger in your community and across the country, visit here.

Doors open at noon for a prize preview and ticket sales. The prize drawings take place 1:30-6pm. The entry fee is $5 and includes refreshments.
