Big Winners at Caesars

Wednesday, October 24th, 2012

pokerroomWEBCaesars Entertainment Atlantic City announced that last Friday at 9:17pm, its Total Bad Beat Jackpot of $598,612 hit at Harrah’s Resort, while a separate $160,000 Slot Jackpot hit at Caesars the following day. In two days, 263 winners took home their share of the $758,612 total payout.

The first floor of Caesars proved lucky for one player, as she hit for a $160,000 jackpot. The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, struck the jackpot at 11:34am, while in the High Limit Slot area and playing a Double Top Dollar slot machine.

Roy Pilla thought he had the winning hand when he laid out his four eights, only to experience a bad beat when another player, Robert Page, flashed quad kings and sealed the win. Though he technically lost, Roy’s losing hand earned him $180,727 while the Robert’s winning hand yielded him $120,865.  In addition to the two players in the hand, another 260 players received $1,143.00 each for being in a Caesars Entertainment (Caesars, Harrah’s Resort, Bally’s, and Showboat) poker room at the time of the Bad Beat. The Total Bad Beat Jackpot was immediately reset to $299,226.

“I couldn’t believe it when it happened; I’m still a little stunned to tell you the truth,” explained Bad Beat winner, Robert Page of Egg Harbor Township. “I’ve been playing here for a while, because I feel like this is the best poker room in Atlantic City, but this is the first time I’ve really won such a substantial amount.”

The bad beat jackpot is a prize that is paid when a sufficiently strong hand is shown down and loses to an even stronger hand held by another player. The Bad beat jackpot is progressive, with $1.00 taken out of each pot to fund the jackpot (in addition to the regular rake). When a jackpot is won, it will be split among all players sitting at a Bad Beat eligible table and in all of the Harrah’s Total Reward Poker rooms in Atlantic City at the time of the bad beat with the losing hand getting the largest share.

2012 is the "Year of the Dragon" on the Asian Calendar

ATLANTIC CITY — Caesars Entertainment is ready to add some fire to this, the “Year of the Dragon,” with its no-charge, open-to-the-public Lunar New Year extravaganza. The celebration features lavish decorations, festive dances, and traditional foods symbolic of long life, fertility, as well as prosperity to honor the spirited traditions of the Far East.

Lunar New Year is viewed as one of the most important Asian holidays. The day itself represents great joy and good fortune, so beginning on Saturday, Jan. 28, at 2pm on the Boardwalk in front of the Showboat, Caesars Entertainment Eastern Division President Don Marrandino will kick off the festivities by “Waking the Lion” — a tradition that is generally used to spread good fortune to all.

“Caesars Entertainment is excited to celebrate the beautiful traditions and cultural richness of Asia here in Atlantic City with the fourth annual Lunar New Year,” says Steve Hann, Vice President of Casino Marketing for Caesars Entertainment Atlantic City. “These spectacular performances, as well as our signature events truly open Atlantic City to a world of new magnificent treasures perfectly fitting the Year of the Dragon.”

Following the Waking the Lion ceremony, the Boardwalk parade features special performances, marching bands, lion dances, floats and Shaolin Kung-Fu displays. The parade starts on the Showboat Boardwalk and continues until the Caesars Boardwalk, at which point it heads inside Caesars and Bally’s. Additionally, free gifts and Caesars Asian Market coupons will be distributed to those attending, but quantities are limited so guests are urged to come early.
