120 Celebrates Three Years on 1/20
Tuesday, January 17th, 2012Atlantic City R&B group 120 is bringing the party to Somers Point.
Niko, Tarius and Babyboy, the southern New Jersey residents who make up the singing group, have been picking up accolades an awards over the past few years, and over that time, the trio has continued to refine its singing style.
They’ll be showing off their stuff in a show presented by Gorilla Extreme, 120 and 2Life Talent.
On Friday, Jan. 20 (1/20, get it?), 120 will host and perform at a show featuring performances by Yung Chef, Niro, Big Frank, Jai~Sun and Misphit, in addition to a “tribute performance to the troops” featuring Deyvon and 120.
The show also celebrates the group’s third year.
120’s sound is akin to modern-day R&B acts such as BBD, New Edition, Bobby Brown and the late Michael Jackson, with nods to old-school groups such as the Temptations.
Nominated as the Best Male R&B Group two years in a row (2010, 2011) 120 picked up a triad of awards in 2011, including the South Jersey Music Award for Best New Group, the South Jersey Music Award for Best HipHop/R&B Group, and the Elephant Talk Award for Best R&B Band.
The Jan. 20 show takes place at Big Buoy’s in Somers Point. Doors open at 9pm and the show is slated to begin at 11:30pm and will rock till 3am.
Planned giveaways include:
• $100 cash giveaway (plus a bottle of Mascado) to the “sexiest lady”
• Bottle of Mascado for “best-dressed man”
• Plus, the first 50 people get a complimentary glass of Mascodo to toast the event.
Tickets are $10 at the door and $8 in advance.
