American Idol Live! Sept. 7, Boardwalk Hall

Tour dates have been announced for the American Idol Live Tour that follows the crowning of the 2012 American Idol live on Fox May 23. AEG Live has announced May 11 as the on-sale ticket date for the tour kicking off in Detroit on Friday, July 6.
Atlantic City’s Idol date has always been in-flux. Some years it is early in the tour, sometimes in the middle and this year, one of the last dates on Friday, Sept. 7, with the tour wrapping up on Sept. 11.
The top ten for 2012 are Colton Dixon, DeAndre Brackensick, Elise Testone, Erika Van Pelt, Heejun Han, Hollie Cavanagh, Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet, Phillip Phillips and Skylar Laine.
I’m rather bummed out about the date, since I go to Toronto every year for the Toronto International Film Festival, which opens Sept. 6. I haven’t missed the local Idol tour stop the last five years. Last year, the tour was in Toronto while I was there and contestant Casey Abrams passed a line-up for a Festival screening. I think I was one of the few in line that recognized him.
Perhaps I could skip the first few days of the Festival, but traditionally the biggest names (George Clooney, Brad Pitt last year) bring their films to the opening weekend.
