Monopoly, the board game based on Atlantic City’s 1930s neighborhoods, is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. But if the game were constructed today, it would look much different.

According to a feature on dailyfinance.com, Baltic, one of Monopoly’s two cheapest properties, borders the Sheraton Hotel, which charges $170 to $259 a night, making it one of the more costly locations in Atlantic City. Even the Pacific/Rhode Island Avenue region, which includes all three of Monopoly’s bargain-priced light-blue properties, is among the city’s most valuable areas.

Some of Monopoly’s streets don’t even exist in today’s city as Illinois Avenue is now Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, and St. Charles Place has been torn down and replaced with the Showboat casino.

Monopoly also imitates a past era of public transportation. By 1987 all of four of its railroads had been surpassed by Atlantic City’s plethora of bus and train choices.

Lindsay Lohan made a splash at The Pool at Harrah’s Saturday night and is getting a lot of attention for the see-through top and new black tresses she sported at the soiree. The 23-year-old, who was seen out and about in London clubs the night before, spent much of the party in a private cabana with mom Dina and friends, according to reports.

Lohan is also making headlines today with a recent interview in Britain’s The Sun newspaper where she admits to relying too heavily on alcohol, drugs and other substances to get her through recent hard times. You can read more about that story here.

The Pool at Harrah’s has made quite a name for itself with its celeb-hosted party nights. This Sunday for example, Valentine’s Day, Angelina from Jersey Shore makes an appearance. But The Pool has made a really noticeable score with Lindsay Lohan, who hosts a party Sat. Feb 20.

What’s that you say? Who cares about Lindsay? She is so 2009.

Au contraire. Lohan is as much a media magnate as ever, including her latest attempt at edginess — posing with a decided messianic feel on the cover of French magazine Purple Fashion. Plus there are new allegations about her relationship with DJ Sam Ronson (who just happens to be at mur.mur this Saturday Feb. 13) and some controversy over whether Lindsay gets lip injections. E! Anyway, we’re hoping her splash down at The Pool snaps us out of this snow funk we’re in.

Leighton Meester (left) hosted and performed at Dusk nightclub’s New Year’s Eve party last Thursday night. She counted down the ball drop to 2010 before ringing in the New Year with an energy-filled performance that rocked the club. Afterward she drank Rose champagne and partied with her entourage.
Meester stars in a series called Gossip Girl on the CW Television Network. The TV series is based on a book series of the same name, and revolves around the lives of teenagers attending an elite private school in New York City. Meester plays the part of student Blair Waldorf.

As the Jersey shore prepares for another weekend of fun, fun, fun … we’re still trying to catch up from last weekend.

Over at the Borgata, Hip-hop star The Dream performed at Borgata’s MIXX night club with his girlfriend, singer/actress Christina Milian on Friday, June 5. Later that night, Mary J. Blige joined the couple following her sold-out show in the Event Center.

The next night supermodel DJ Sky Nellor hosted her birthday party at mur.mur at Borgata. Real Housewives of New York City star Bethenny Frankel helped her celebrate.

This weekend, look out for a ton of celebs in town as Smokin’ Joe Frazier’s Spotzbox concept comes to Bally’s with a line-up including Joe Piscopo, Bobby Rydell, Tonya Harding (yes, that Tonya Harding) and Vincent Pastore. Over at Resorts on Saturday night, June 13, Dan Aykroyd will be in the house to promote his new Crystal Head Vodka.

Lindsay Lohan says she is in “absolute hell” since breaking up with DJ Samantha Ronson.

As for Ronson, well, club goers at mur.mur will be able to see for themselves how she’s holding up this Saturday (April 11) as Ronson guest DJs. Lohan has shown up at Ronson’s A.C. gigs before, such as last August at mur.mur when this shot was taken by Tom Briglia.

The latest news is that Ronson has decided not to seek a restraining order against Lohan, so there’s nothing really stopping an A.C. reunion is there? For more on the two’s split go here.
