Bizarre AC at Tropicana Dec. 13-15

bizarre_acposterWEBMarketing guru Jon Henderson of Good Time Tricycle Productions has brought us the Drawing the Wild Tattoo Expo, the revival of the Atlantic City Seafood Festival and the annual Celebration of the Suds beer extravaganza. Now he appears to want to bring us Halloween in December with a new convention concept called Bizarre AC.

Here is what the release says about this new event: For far too long, monsters, zombies, ghouls, freaks and goblins have roamed the Boardwalk, aimlessly searching, searching for a place to gather and tell their stories, and now, that day has come. The weird, the odd, the bizarre, all gather for a weekend of entertainment, education, commerce and camaraderie as we celebrate all things horror and beyond, the first weekend of its kind in the history of Atlantic City.

This Horror Expo will be hosted by Tropicana Casino & Resort Friday, Dec. 13 from 5-10pm, Saturday Dec. 14 from 12-10pm and Sunday, Dec. 15, 12pm-5pm.

Admission is $20 for a one-day pass, $30 for a two-day pass and $40 for a three-day pass. An adult must accompany anyone under the age of 16. Kids under 10 get in free with a parent or guardian. Discounts are available for purchases in advance.

Event goers will walk and shop with the unique exhibitors of the Bizarre Bazaar, while freaks and geeks from around the globe will  command the stage in Bizarre AC’s Sideshow gathering and Hall of Oddities.  Horror movie aficionados can take part in movie screenings, complete with Q&A’s, and the chance to delve into the minds of some of the up-and-coming filmmakers.

May I suggest for the movie screenings, the Tod Browning classic Freaks, which would seem to embody the spirit of this new convention concept.

Saturday’s events will also include the Bizarre AC Costume Contest offering event goers the opportunity to show off their best monster, zombie, alien or creature. There will be cash prizes — hopefully your Halloween costume isn’t buried too deep in your closet. The event is also offering a dining experience called Bizarre Bites.
