Fans of excellent dining at extraordinary prices are gearing up for the best event of early spring, Atlantic City Restaurant Week. (For a video of the AC Restaurant Week Preview Party go here.)

During the week of March 3-9, 79 of the top restaurants in the region, including many at the casinos, are showcasing a special menu that offers a three course meal — appetizer, entrée and dessert — for just $15.13 for lunch and $33.13 for dinner, plus tax, tip and the cost of beverages. And, since this is a golden opportunity to showcase their culinary skills for potential new patrons, the restaurants do not skimp on quality ingredients. They want you to come back, especially in the wake of the continuing recovery from Hurricane Sandy.

The Restaurant Week comes at the perfect time to remind visitors that Atlantic City and nearby towns are back in business full time.

I’ve been a big fan of Atlantic City’s Restaurant week since it began in 2009 and have enjoyed fantastic meals at McCormick and Schmick’s at Harrah’s, The Inn at Sugar Hill in Mays Landing, Evo at Trump Plaza and last year, Harry’s Oyster Bar at Bally’s.

If you’ve been scared away by the price tag at some of Revel’s restaurants, here is the perfect opportunity to check them out on a budget. Diners can enjoy a special menu at Revel’s Amada, Azure by Allegretti, American Cut, Mussel Bar by Robert Wiedmaier, Village Whiskey, Central Michel Richard and Lugo Cucina e Vino.

Among the menu items, an 8-ounce filet mignon with a choice of sides at American Cut is pretty exciting. There is a bacon and onion tart lunch appetizer at Central Michel Richard, and a choice of two of the signature mussel dishes at Mussel Bar by Robert Wiedmaier, Spicy Thai Green Curry Mussels and Mediterranean Mussels, both offered on the lunch menu.

Other items that caught my eye (make that my taste buds) on the RW menus include the choice of Mini Crab au Gratin or French Onion Lobster Soup on the lunch menu at the Atlantic City Country Club Tap Room Bar and Grill., Northfield; an 18oz. Ribeye steak on the dinner menu at the Back Bay Ale House, Atlantic City; Lobster & Shrimp Carbonara at Golden Nugget’s Chart House; Cobb Salad as a lunch menu appetizer at Showboat’s Crossroads; Filet Mignon or Panko-Crusted Chesapeake Oysters as dinner entrees at Dock’s Oyster House, Atlantic City; a prime rib and lobster tail Surf & Turf for dinner at East Bay Crab & Grille, Egg Harbor Twp.; Ethel’s Salad with spinach, mixed fruit and day boat scallops for lunch at Fred & Ethel’s Lantern Light, Smithville; Baked Five Onion Soup appy at Morton’s the Steakhouse at Caesars; Nova Scotia Lobster BLT Sandwich for lunch at The Palm, Tropicana; Dry Aged NY Strip Steak for dinner at Robert’s Steakhouse at the Taj; Seafood Paella for dinner at the Smithville Inn and Lobster Mac & Cheese as a dinner appy at Steve & Cookie’s By the Bay, Margate.
