Tanger Outlets Teams with United Way of Greater Philly/Southern New Jersey
ATLANTIC CITY — Thanks for Giving Day — the Monday before the Thanksgiving holiday — is a unique collaboration of United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, and Tanger Outlets – The Walk. It includes free Tanger Outlets – The Walk coupon books, a chance to participate in one of five $500 shopping sprees, or win a Tanger Outlets $100 gift card. On Thanks for Giving Day, United Way supporters can go to The Walk and with their Thanks for Giving Day card, access a Tanger Discount book and enter to win the shopping sprees or gift card .
In response to the needs emerging from Hurricane Sandy, United Way and Tanger Outlets – The Walk, with the support of thousands of local donors, will kickoff a winter-apparel drive at Tanger Outlets as part of Thanks for Giving Day on Nov. 19. They will utilize five $500 shopping sprees to begin a collection, which will continue through the Holiday Season. Items include coats, hats, gloves, scarves and boots, which will be distributed to local families affected by Hurricane Sandy through The Salvation Army.
“United Way is able to touch so many in our community and Thanks for Giving Day is the perfect opportunity to kick off a winter apparel drive that is so needed in our community right now,” said Christine Bentz, assistant general manager of Tanger Outlets – The Walk.
All stores at Tanger Outlets – The Walk will be opening at 6am Friday, Nov. 23 — Black Friday — and remain open until 9pm. The outlets will offer incredible savings Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 24-25, and will be open 10am-8pm both of those days.
Columbia Sportswear has already committed an entire box full of winter-wear for the drive. Tanger Outlets will continue the winter apparel drive through Friday, Dec. 21, at Shopper Services located at 2014 Baltic Ave. in A.C. Several stores have already begun donating items including Nike Factory Outlet, Reebok Outlet, Maidenform Outlet, and Tanger’s Management Office.
“Collectively, we all came together and said ‘how can we make this event help?’ said John Emge, executive director of United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey in Atlantic and Cape May counties. “Thanks for Giving Day is a day of appreciation for our donors. Yet the feedback we received from our campaign chairs and volunteers is that these individuals had already planned to shop for local families in need if they won a spree. It’s this powerful generosity that exists in our community that will enable us to emerge from this disaster even stronger, more united.”
