United Way’s Day of Action
In sheer minutes, June 21 is the longest day of the year. It’s summer solstice and prime time for the beach or pool, but for United Ways across the nation, it’s also the perfect time to volunteer.
On Thursday, June 21, United Way of Atlantic County’s Volunteer Center will coordinate a Day of Action — a daylong service initiative that pairs much needed volunteers with projects in Atlantic County.
Entering its 9th year, this volunteer effort has contributed more than 2,500 hours of service in Atlantic County, many of which were supported by local companies. A number of area businesses and organizations have expressed a commitment to making Day of Action a success by sending teams of volunteers to participate and providing employees with a paid day to volunteer. In addition to sponsoring the event, Tropicana Casino and Resort will deploy a volunteer team to join the effort. Nearly 100 volunteers will be headed to 4 projects throughout Atlantic County.
