MBCA Annual Scholarship Luncheon Awarded $17K at the Tropicana May 23

The 2012 MBCA scholarship recipients were Laura Cerro of Hammonton, Kathryn Blizzard of Ocean City, Megan Hopkins of Galloway, Nicole Campos of Absecon, Sydney Becker of Margate, Frankie Watson of Atlantic City, Elijah Langford of Atlantic City, Ashlyn Laveson of Ventnor and Bryan Phillips of Somers Point.

The 2012 MBCA scholarship recipients were Bryan Phillips of Somers Point, Laura Cerro of Hammonton, Kathryn Blizzard of Ocean City, Megan Hopkins of Galloway, Nicole Campos of Absecon, Sydney Becker of Margate, Frankie Watson of Atlantic City, Elijah Langford of Atlantic City and Ashlyn Laveson of Ventnor.

ATLANTIC CITY — New Jersey Secretary for Higher Education Rochelle Hendricks was the keynote speaker on Wednesday, May 23, at the Metropolitan Business and Citizens Association (MBCA)’s annual scholarship luncheon at the Tropicana. The luncheon honored student-scholarship recipients and presented the annual Epicurean Teacher Grant to art teacher Terri Gragg of Brigantine Elementary School.

About 400 community business leaders and students attended. Scholarships were granted in amounts between $1,500 and $2,500, and went to students from the greater Atlantic City region. The total amount awarded was $17,000.

Scholarship recipients included Laura Cerro of Hammonton, Kathryn Blizzard of Ocean City, Megan Hopkins of Galloway, Nicole Campos of Absecon, Sydney Becker of Margate, Frankie Watson of Atlantic City, Elijah Langford of Atlantic City, Ashlyn Laveson of Ventnor and Bryan Phillips of Somers Point.

The MBCA Scholarship Foundation has awarded over $110,000 to date since its inception. In addition to the scholarships and grant, Hendricks received the Educator Appreciation Award from  MBCA.
