RIP: Adam Yauch of Beastie Boys Dies at 47
Adam Yauch was the only member of the Beastie Boys not in attendance at last month’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Cleveland where the influential New York rap group was being inducted.
His bandmates noted he was not well enough to attend. Yauch had been battling cancer since 2009.
Yauch, also known as MCA, died, at age 47, according to reports on Friday afternoon, May 4.
The Beastie Boys influenced hip-hop in many ways, especially with the group’s seminal album Licensed to Ill (1986) and its follow-up Paul’s Boutique.
Hip-hop will never be the same and the music world is in mourning again.
