This week’s Legends Performer of the Week is Suzanne Goulet as Liza Minnelli. Born in Montreal, Canada, Suzanne became a professional dancer at an early age. She danced in a few companies and performed in several TV shows before she started to travel around the world, starring as a lead dancer in “Miller-Reich Productions” shows, in Atlantic City, Miami Beach, Puerto Rico, Europe and Japan.
After studying voice in New York City and winning the “Smirnoff makes you a Star” national impersonator competition, as Liza, she began her career as a tribute artist. She was hired by Greg Thompson Productions to perform at the Showboat Hotel in Tokyo and then at Caesar’s Casino in Atlantic City. Suzanne joined the cast of “Hollywood Legends” at the Sand’s Hotel in Puerto Rico where she closed the show for two years and then made her debut in “Legend in Concert” at Bally’s Grand in Atlantic City in 1994. For a few months every year, she joins the cast of “Legends” in Las Vegas, Branson, Myrtle Beach and at Foxwoods Casino where she receives rave reviews.
In 1996, Suzanne produced and choreographed her self-contained show, “A Moment with Liza” with The Cabaret Dancers, which debuted at The Estrel Hotel in Berlin, Germany. After presenting the show at the Alhambra Casino in Aruba, it moved to the famous Holiday Inn Casino of the same island for 6 months. In 2003, she directed, choreographed and stared in “Liza and Judy, Together Again” with the Cabaret Dancers at The Newport Hotel in Miami Beach. Since then, the show was presented on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship, in the Catskills, and in a few condo tours in Florida where it built a great reputation. Recently, “Liza & Judy” toured in Arizona, performing 24 shows before going to Pasadena, CA to star in a FIDM fashion show. Then, they headlined at the Suncoast Casino in Las Vegas for 2 sold out nights. In the fall of 2011, they play at the Tropicana Casino in AC in front of a crowd of more than a thousand people.
In 2007, Suzanne also joined the cast of “Frank, Liza & Sammy, The Ultimate Concert tribute show. After a Canadian tour the show was performed in Florida before taking off to a 3 week Australian tour in 2009. The trio has been performing for corporate events like for the retired FBI agents in San Antonio Texas.
In the fall of 2010, Suzanne went to Paris, France as she made it to the finals of a big “Look-a-like” contest. Suzanne has won the “Best Personification of a Legend” award at the 2004 Sunburst Convention, the “Outstanding Performance” award at the Reel Award in 2006 and the “Classic Crooner” award again at the Reel Award in 2009.
