ATLANTIC CITY — The Associated Press reports on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 18, that Harrah’s Resort, which is under the Atlantic City umbrella of Caesars Entertainment, along with Showboat, Bally’s and Caesars, is interested in putting six table games at The Pool, the casino’s indoor pool/nightlife venue.

“We’re in the process of getting approval,” said Don Marrandino, eastern division president for Caesars Entertainment.

The announcement of Harrah’s plan comes days after the Tropicana Casino and Resort received approval  to put slot machines and electronic table games machines inside The Quarter, which is located across Pacific Avenue from the casino.

The casinos want the gambling areas to be 100 percent smoke-free.

When the new Revel casino opens next May, it will be the first casino in Atlantic City to be totally smoke-free.

From the AP:

“Last week, the state Division of Gaming Enforcement granted Tropicana permission to embark on a pilot program to extend gambling into The Quarter, its stand-alone shopping and dining district across Pacific Avenue from the casino. The Tropicana will initially put 11 slot machines and two electronic table games machines into The Quarter, with the idea that they will be used by people waiting for dinner or movie reservations in the popular tourist attraction.

“The casino eventually hopes to put 100 to 125 slot machines and live-staffed table games into The Quarter if all goes well during the trial period.

“Other casinos are considering similar expansion requests. On weekends, the Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort puts table games, including $1 blackjack tables, into its Ego Bar & Lounge, according to Robert Griffin, CEO of Trump Entertainment Resorts.

“And the Tropicana recently asked state regulators for permission to put slot machines in its bus waiting area, although it never actually followed through on the proposal.

“The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa does not plan to ask for a gambling expansion, according to Joe Lupo, senior vice president of operations. There has been speculation that the casino might seek to extend gambling into areas of The Water Club, its stand-alone luxury hotel next to the casino-hotel.”
