Atlantic City Premiere of ‘Boardwalk Empire’ at Caesars?

ATLANTIC CITY — Everybody knows by now that HBO’s Boardwalk Empire will return to the cable TV station Sunday, Sept. 25, at 9pm. However, unlike last year for the premiere of the first season, little has been announced as far as premiere parties or related events in Atlantic City.
However, a source close to the show tells Atlantic City Weekly that a premiere party event — with cast members from the show attending — is slated for Caesars Atlantic City on the night of the national premiere — Sunday, Sept. 25.
Last year, for its debut season, a Boardwalk Empire official premiere was held in New York City the Tuesday before the national pilot debut, Sunday, Sept. 19. On the Thursday before the Sunday premiere last year, a private gala premiere party was held at Caesars and at One Atlantic at the Pier Shops at Caesars.
Cast and crew and HBO executives mingled at the plush gala, which was open to select media.
Then on the actual premiere date, Sunday, Sept. 19, Caesars held a premiere party open to the public.
Inside the Circus Maximus Theater, the debut episode was aired for a capacity audience. Right before the 9pm showing, Atlantic City Weekly’s Jeff Schwachter moderated a panel discussion with local historians and authors for a special event, also free and open to the public.
The event, Atlantic City History: Conversations and Storytelling, was a smashing success and was turned into a 13-part Web series, which can be seen here. AC Weekly partnered with Caesars Entertainment, the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority, Stockton College and the Atlantic City Free Public Library to plan and put on the event.
Aside from the aforementioned rumor about a premiere party at Caesars on this coming Sept. 25, nothing has been officially been announced so far with regard to premiere parties in Atlantic City for the second season of Boardwalk Empire.
The Atlantic City Free Public Library has announced some interesting sounding Boardwalk Empire related events for September, including a musical celebration on Saturday, Sept. 24 at Kennedy Plaza across the Boardwalk from Boardwalk Hall.
