Report: ‘Atlantic City Paves Way for Smaller Casinos’

hard rockATLANTIC CITY — An Associated Press report out today, picked up by Forbes.com and other news and business Web sites, says that earlier Wednesday, the state’s Casino Control Commission “approved a process for companies to apply for a license to build two new smaller casinos [in Atlantic City]. One could have as few as 200 rooms, while the other would eventually have to expand to 500 rooms within five years.”

Previously, the report continues, the New Jersey law required casinos to have at least 500 rooms.

In recent months there has been a lot of talk about a boutique-style (around 200 rooms) casino hotel that the Hard Rock company wants to add to the city’s 11 existing casinos.

Here is the AP report.
