The Roots ?uestlove Booked for Slaughterfest
Michael Hauke, owner and operator of Tony Boloney’s in Atlantic City — right near the Revel site — has confirmed that The Roots ?uestlove will be taking a break from the Philly hip-hop band’s weeknight stint as the house band on the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon show to appear at Slaughterfest 2011.
Tony Boloney’s Slaughterfest will be held Saturday, May 14 and will, in its second year, be bigger, beefier and badder than ever.
Slaughterfest 2011 – Atlantic City’s biggest street festival, according to organizers, will include lots of live music, more than 100 vendors, celebrity judges for the pizza eating contest, a beer garden, and a “Kid’s Slaughter Village.”
Reached early Friday morning, Hauke tells AC Weekly:
“Holy S#it, When Questlove confirmed and said he would love to be our resident DJ for the Slaughter, myself, staff and especially Dan Hagen who put the deal together with Quest & Alex’s Lemonade Stand, started screaming, busted out a few roundhouse kicks, fist pumps, worms and I think we broke a few chairs.
“I mean we are talking QUESTLOVE from The Roots, THE Questlove, who, in my opinion is one of, if not the, most influential artist of our time, is all about the Slaughter and all about helping out Alex’s…what a guy.”
