Showboat Celebrates Fat Tuesday

tertainment is celebrating Mardi Gras with a series of fun events at Showboat true to “N’awlins” traditions!
The fun starts Tuesday, March 8, at 3pm for the highly anticipated Fat Tuesday King Cake Eating World Championship. Twelve of the world’s best Major League Eaters will gather at Showboat Casino in Atlantic City for a chance to win cash prizes as well as bragging rights! Competitors will include Pat “Deep Dish” Bertoletti, Sonya “The Black Widow” Thomas, and Bob “Notorious B.O.B.” Shoudt. The eight-minute contest will take place at the House of Blues Restaurant in Showboat. Showboat will award $2,500 to the top finisher. Second place will earn $1,000 and the third-place finisher will receive $500.
For guests who think they have what it takes to compete alongside these MLE champions, there will be a special drawing to determine which amateur will challenge the pros for a shot at King Cake Glory. The drawing will take place at 2:30pm, March 8, at the House of Blues courtyard.
Throughout the day there will also be a Mardi Gras Sweepstakes taking place from 2-6pm in which guests can swipe in at promotional kiosks to activate their free entry into the Mardi Gras Sweepstakes. Drawings will be held at 4, 5 and 6pm at the Front Stage in Showboat lobby. There will be a grand prize drawing at 7pm, during which the names of 11 contestants will be drawn and given a mini king cake. In true Mardi Gras tradition, one of the mini king cakes will have a plastic baby hidden inside. Whoever receives the king cake with the plastic baby inside will receive the grand prize of $10,000 cash.
