Landis Theater Reopens

bernadettePetersThe Landis Theater in Vineland returns as a showplace for concerts and stage productions beginning May 22 with an appearance by Bernadette Peters. Originally opened in March 1937 as an Art Deco style movie theater, the Landis Theater also hosted live performances, including Abbott and Costello. In 1987 the theater closed its doors.

The restoration of the Landis Theater is part of a major redevelopment plan for Vineland. Through the efforts of Vineland’s Redevelopment Plan, the Landis Theater has been returned to its original splendor.

Besides kicking off with the Tony award winning actress singer Peters, the theater also will present The Lettermen (May 23); the Broadway hit The Producers (June 3-13); comedian Steven Wright (June 5) and Love Linda: The Life of Mrs. Cole Porter (July 17). Go here for more information.
