Congrats to Levon Helm (Again)!

2010grammyDon’t call it a comeback. Levon Helm, who’s been through fire (literally), throat cancer and financial ruin in recent years before jump-starting his musical career and holding his acclaimed Midnight Rambles jam sessions up at his barn in Woodstock, N.Y., picked up his second consecutive Grammy Sunday night for his second release, Electric Dirt, in a few years. He also picked up a Grammy in 2007 for the roots-folk album Dirt Farmer. Helm, who’ll be in Atlantic City with his band on Feb. 27 at Harrah’s Resort, picked up the Grammy for the Best Americana Album of 2009 (the first time the Grammys included that category) beating out ex-band mate Bob Dylan (Together Through Life) and surely making producer of both of Helm’s last two Grammy-winning albums, Larry Campbell, proud. Congrats! Read here about Levon’s roots in southern New Jersey and here too!
