It was a busy weekend at the Borgata Winter Open poker tournament with some big winners cashing in at preliminary events. Wednesday’s opening event — A $350 buy-in, deep-stack, no-limit Hold’em tourney — paid winner Brian Woods of Lutherville Md. nearly $100,000 ($99,919). With more than 1,500 players and a total buy-in of $547,050, the event took two days to play.
Saturday’s no limit tournament, another two-dayer with a $1,000 buy-in, paid off even better for winner William Beasley of Hollywood Florida, who took home $125,000 of the $452,000 total buy-in.
Tournaments continue all week with today’s action (Jan. 25) including another deep-stack, no-limit tournament ($500 + $60) and a $300 + $50 limit hold’em tournament.
The main event starts Sunday (Jan. 31). The $3,300 + $200 event carries a $2 million guaranteed prize pool. Go here for info.
