Gold Foundation Hosts 2009 Margate Rock Festival
The Gin Blossoms are coming to rock the Margate Bayfront! On Sunday night, Aug. 23, the Gold Foundation will host its FREE annual summer blockbuster concert presented this year by Harrah’s Entertainment, and featuring the Gin Blossoms, followed by a beautiful fireworks display sponsored by Tomatoe’s Restaurant of Margate.
Fueled by mega-hits like “Hey Jealousy,” “Found Out About You,” and “Til I Hear It From You,” the Gin Blossoms completed the classic crossover from college-circuit heroes to multi-platinum album sellers.
Their CD releases included Up and Crumbling and the multi-platinum selling New Miserable Experience featuring “Hey Jealousy” which peaked at 25 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The event begins 7pm on Washington Avenue and the bay, with 5,000 people expected to attend and enjoy a great night out for a great cause. This year’s presenting sponsor is Harrah’s Entertainment, with over 30 other businesses and professionals adding sponsorship to the event. Proceeds from the show will be distributed to various South Jersey charities.
During this past year, the Gold Foundation organized three highly successful fundraising events: the “Margate Pop Festival 4” featuring Peter Noone and Herman’s Hermits; the 22nd Annual Gold Invitational Golf Tournament held at the Linwood Country Club, and the Shirley Mae Breast Cancer Assistance Fund Run held in May at Trump Taj Mahal, with over 2,500 in attendance and raising over $200,000!
