AtlantiCare LifeCenter Fitness Coming to Tropicana in Spring 2015
ATLANTIC CITY — On Dec. 8 the Tropicana and AtlantiCare announced plans for a new fitness complex that will be open to both hotel guests and the general public some time in the second quarter of 2015.
The center will be two stories and 12,455 square feet, offering the latest in fitness equipment, classes, programming and amenities.
“We are always seeking the right tenant mix, and the AtlantiCare LifeCenter concept really appealed to us,” said Tony Rodio, president and chief executive officer of Tropicana Entertainment Inc. “There is a noticeable lack of quality public gyms in Atlantic City. We are excited to partner with southeastern New Jersey’s leading healthcare provider to create what will be a state-of-the-art fitness facility for our guests, employees and area residents.”
AtlantiCare LifeCenter Fitness at Tropicana will be located on Brighton Avenue, adjacent to Bluemercury Spa. Members and guests will access the center through The Quarter or directly from the street.
The modern, dual-level fitness center will include the latest in cardio and weight training equipment as well as three rooms for health and wellness classes; and group fitness programs, including, but not limited to group cycling, Zumba, Yoga, Tai Chi and other strength training, aerobic and mind-body classes. Executive locker rooms will include saunas and showers. Guests and members will have use of towels, wash clothes, and toiletries.
AtlantiCare will staff the facility with certified fitness professionals and customer service representatives. To fully integrate the AtlantiCare LifeCenter Fitness into the Tropicana resort experience, AtlantiCare LifeCenter staff will also lead select classes at Tropicana’s pool, beach and its Boogie Nights nightclub.
“We’ve played a role in keeping southern New Jersey healthy for 116 years,” said David Tilton, president and CEO of AtlantiCare. “We’re excited about offering a new fitness venue to hotel guests as well as residents of, and other visitors to our area.”
Tilton added the facility will include many design features and programs and classes of AtlantiCare’s first LifeCenter, which it opened in 2005 in Egg Harbor Township.”
“It is particularly gratifying to see two of our region’s most well-known and respected organizations come together to create this exciting project in Atlantic City,” said John Palmieri, executive director of the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA). “Tropicana and AtlantiCare’s partnership is the perfect example of the kind of innovative collaboration that will help to diversify Atlantic City’s attractions and balance its economy.”
The introduction of AtlantiCare LifeCenter Fitness at Tropicana is part of $35 million in approved renovations planned by Tropicana. The projects are funded by Tropicana and the CRDA.
AtlantiCare LifeCenter Fitness at Tropicana is scheduled to open in May of 2015.
